Aviation Giant Boeing, SparkCognition To Form Blockchain Focused Joint Venture

Aviation giant Boeing and artificial intelligence (AI) firm SparkCognition have partnered to establish a new blockchain and AI focused company that will aim to enable the future of urban aerial mobility.

Boeing is the world’s largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and defense, space and security systems. It also provides leasing and product support services. It supports airlines and US and allied government customers in more than 150 countries.

Founded in 2014, SparkCognition offers business critical solutions for enterprise customers in energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, finance, aerospace, telecommunications, defense, and security. It deploys advanced machine learning technology to customers in energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, finance, aerospace, defense, and security.

Called SkyGrid, the two companies’ joint venture will build an AI- and blockchain-powered airspace management software platform to ensure the safe, secure integration of autonomous cargo and passenger air vehicles in the global airspace. SkyGrid, which will based in Austin, Texas, will focus on unmanned aircraft systems traffic management (UTM) and incorporating AI-powered dynamic traffic routing. The platform will enable customers to safely perform a broad range of missions and services, including package delivery, industrial inspections and emergency assistance.
