Blockchain’s Setl Platform Hires Philippe Morel As New CEObr>
London blockchain firm Setl has hired Philippe Morel as its next chief executive officer, The move comes after co-founder Peter Randall’s decision to step aside.
Morel most recently was CEO of Boston Consulting Group Europe, where he led principal investors and private equity practice. Morel previously worked for Societe Generale and Goldman Sachs in London.
Randall will now become president of Setl, responsibile for international business, marketing and investor relations. Randall was the former CEO of equities venue Chi-X Europe, now part of Cboe Global Markets. He helped create Setl in 2015.
The firm was an early blockchain adopte. Setl claimed its blockchain was 1,000 times faster than the one that supports bitcoin.
Morel said Setl has already seen “significant interest” in its blockchain-powered OpenCSD product. The product is a central securities depository for holding financial instruments.
Sir David Walker, the former Barclays chairman who is also chair at Setl, said Morel “brings a wealth of experience in the capital market, financial, and regulatory spheres and we are very pleased to have attracted such an impressive talent.”
