Cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex has partnered with specialist crypto wallet and payments provider Mercuryo to enable customers to buy cryptocurrencies using a credit or debit card.

Founded in 2012, Bitfinex is a digital asset trading platform offering services for digital token traders and global liquidity providers. In addition to a suite of advanced trading features and charting tools, Bitfinex provides access to peer-to-peer financing, an over the counter (OTC) market and financed trading for a wide selection of digital assets.

Based in Estonia, Mercuryo is an ecosystem of payment processing solutions that includes a crypto wallet, payment gateway for cryptocurrency exchanges along with an acquiring solution for businesses which enables customers to pay for goods and services using cryptocurrencies. The company has two licenses for providing a virtual currency wallet service and for providing services of exchanging a virtual currency to fiat currency granted by the Estonian government.

The integration of Mercuryo will enable Bitfinex users to deposit bitcoin, ether, tether (USDt), Algorand and Basic Attention Token to their wallets on the exchange using a Visa or Mastercard. According to Bitfinex, credit and debit card payments provide a safe and convenient way of making a deposit to an account to start trading on the exchange.

“We are introducing card payments in response to demand from our user base,” said Paolo Ardoino, CTO at Bitfinex. “Our customers appreciate the convenience and ease of use of credit cards and our collaboration with Mercuryo provides a highly secure and user friendly portal for purchasing cryptocurrencies on our platform.”

“Our goal is to simplify your interactions with cryptocurrency and boost mass adoption by introducing digital currencies into your daily life,” said Gregory Waisman, co-founder and COO at Mercuryo.
