The cryptocurrency markets continued to take small bites today, moving in tiny increments as investors wait for a jolt that will send prices in a sustained direction.

At mid-morning, bitcoin was clinging to the $6,500 level for the third consecutive day. In early trading, the rest of the top ten followed in lockstep, with most coins up or down by tenths of a percentage point.

The outlier in the early going was Ripple’s XRP, which has started sliding back to earth after a massive rally in the wake of its convention and news that its xRapid system is now working.
