Cryptocurrency Markets Stay In Their Lane, But XRP Down Drastically

The cryptocurrency market remained locked on Saturday, with Ripple’s XRP the outlier

At mid-morning, bitcoin was at the $6,500 level, essentially unchanged, on extremely light trading volume. The rest of the top ten coins followed suit except for XRP, which is deflating after a huge run-up upon last week’s announcement on its xRapid payments system deployment.

The highest price seen was $6,779.85 on the Cryptonex exchange at 6:19 pm yesterday. Cryptonex saw $20,922,299 of bitcoin change hands.

The lowest price seen was $4,860.75 on Simex’s exchange at 1:49 am today. Simex’s 24 hour volume was $38,846,985.

The average price on the surveyed exchanges, as weighed by volume, was $6,585.46.

Volatility was a bit lower than average, with the BlockTribune Volatility Index coming in at 43.5. A higher number indicates greater price volatility with 50 describing an average day.

These statistics were consolidated from 26 different exchanges. It includes only BTC/USD trades and only on those exchanges that had at least 1% of the total volume of BTC/USD trades during the measurement period.
