Social media influencer and professional wrestler Logan Paul announced on Twitter that he filed a lawsuit in regards to his failed CryptoZoo NFT project. In a lengthy Twitter post, Paul revealed that he has launched a buyback program for Base Egg and Base Animal CryptoZoo NFTs after the plannedCryptoZoo game was derailed.

Paul invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into developing the CryptoZoo game, but it was never released. Paul claims “bad actors” sabotaged the project from within and stole money. An extensive investigation that included analyzing blockchain transactions and reviewing thousands of messages uncovered nefarious actions taken without the team’s knowledge to defraud investors.

As a result, Paul filed a 25-page lawsuit in federal court in Texas against these individuals to hold them accountable for their actions. While he spent additional funds to have the game completed earlier this year, Paul decided not to move forward with the release due to regulatory hurdles.

Instead, Paul has established a buyback program through a dedicated website, where original owners of Base Egg and Base Animal NFTs can submit claims to receive the same amount they paid. Paul estimates he will personally commit over $2.3 million to fulfill all buyback requests by February 8th.

While some community members gambled on the crypto market surrounding the project, Paul stressed this buyback aims to make whole those who intended to simply play the planned CryptoZoo game. With the project now unable to be salvaged, the buyback allows early supporters impacted by the mismanagement and sabotage to recoup their initial investments.
