Bob Biesterfeld will take over as president and CEO at logistics company C.H. Robinson, a member of the Blockchain in Transport Alliance. Biesterfeld will assume his duties on May 9.

Biesterfeld takes over from John Wiehoff, who will remain chairman, in what’s described as a planned succession. Biesterfeld has been with the company for 20 years,  joining the company in sales and account management after graduating college at Winona State University.

His tenure includes 14 years in the Robinson Fresh division and the company’s North American Surface Transportation unit. He was promoted to chief operating officer last March.

Biesterfeld said the logistics industry continues to face increased technological change from artificial intelligence and autonomous and driverless trucks to blockchain technology.
