Musk’s Legal Drama Heats Up as Key Lawyer Quits Amid Dogecoin Lawsuit

Elon Musk, the billionaire boss of Tesla and Twitter, has just lost a key ally in his legal battles. Adam Gabor Mehes, one of his top in-house lawyers, has bailed out of defending him in a whopping $258 billion lawsuit over his alleged Dogecoin scheme. This news follows a report by the New York Post on a leaked letter from Musk’s lawyers, where Musk rejected owning the crypto wallets allegedly involved in the fraudulent DOGE transactions.

Mehes joined Tesla in 2022 and helped Musk win several lawsuits, including one over his infamous tweet about taking Tesla private. He was also fighting off a group of angry Dogecoin investors who claimed that Musk duped them with his tweets and TV appearance, where he hyped up the coin and then crashed it. The investors claim they lost billions because of Musk’s tricks.

Musk and Tesla have dismissed the lawsuit as a fantasy based on his funny and harmless tweets. They also say that Dogecoin is not a security and that Musk’s comments were too vague to be fraudulent. The lawsuit demands triple damages based on the huge drop in Dogecoin’s value in the 13 months before the suit was filed.

Mehes’ departure is not the only shake-up in Musk’s legal team. Tesla has also hired a new lawyer, Allison Huebert, who used to work for a big law firm. Huebert will join Musk’s other lawyer, Alex Shapiro, who recently denied that Musk owned millions of dollars worth of Dogecoin in secret wallets.

Musk’s tweets have often landed him in hot water. He is also facing several other lawsuits over his remarks on Twitter about various topics, such as Tesla’s solar roof tiles, coronavirus lockdowns, and a British cave diver. He has also set up an email address called [email protected] to deal with legal issues.
