OpenFin, the operating system (OS) of finance, has appointed Tim Dinsdale as its European CTO.

OpenFin OS has become the de-facto digital infrastructure provider for capital market firms and technology companies building solutions to support them – enabling digital transformation at speed. Offering application interoperability and seamless deployment as standard, OpenFin OS is now licensed to almost 200,000 desktops and used to deploy more than 1,000 applications to more than 1,500 major banks and buy-side firms in 60+ locations.

Prior to joining OpenFin, Dinsdale was Managing Director at Goldman Sachs. During his long-term tenure he worked in a variety of technology roles in the front and middle office across the Equity Structured Products Desk, the Core Strategies Group and the Enterprise Platform Group. Before entering financial services in 2003, Dinsdale worked in the gaming industry as a Software engineer for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and as a C++ Developer for video game developer Kuju Ltd.

As OpenFin’s European CTO, Dinsdale will be responsible for leading the firm’s technology efforts across the region, expanding OpenFin’s London-based development team and driving OpenFin’s desktop services initiatives globally, including OpenFin Layouts. At the same time, he will also continue to support the development and adoption of the FDC3 standards initiative, initially launched by OpenFin and contributed to FINOS (the FinTech Open Source Foundation) in 2018.

“This is a great time to be joining OpenFin. It’s a business that’s truly transforming how we work in financial services,” Dinsdale said. “Having spent 15 years at Goldman Sachs, I am keenly aware of the value of fintech collaborations in speeding up go-to-market strategies and allowing large institutions to focus on their core competencies rather than the infrastructure that makes it happen. OpenFin is already working with 22 major banks to help them solve business challenges and support their digital transformation strategies and I am excited to be part of this journey.”

“We are delighted to welcome Tim to the OpenFin team and look forward to working with him on delivering our European technology strategy as we look to accelerate the pace of innovation and collaboration not only across our ecosystem of banks, buy-side, sell-side and fintech firms, but also the industry at large,” said Chuck Doerr, President and COO of OpenFin.
