34 Bytes’ bitcoin POS terminal enters beta testing

34 Bytes LLC has announced that its new fully functional bitcoin POS terminals has entered the beta testing phase.

34 Bytes says that their new POS terminals do not require merchants to use smartphones or tablets to accept bitcoin payments. The terminals are designed to be standalone devices, and can reportedly “accept bitcoin transactions from any bitcoin wallet application.” Received bitcoin payments can be processed through Coinbase, or can be stored in a cold wallet.

“We will provide the terminal for free (for the merchant to keep!) and we won’t charge processing fees for 6 weeks from the time of signup. All we are looking for in return is feedback on how the system works, ease of use, customer experience, etc. Currently, use of the terminal requires a merchant account with Coinbase, though we are working to expand the list of 3rd party services that are supported,” said 34 Bytes.

34 Bytes LLC is a California-based startup that designs and develops bitcoin point-of-sale solutions to brick-and-mortar merchants and businesses. The company aims to widely improve the experience of in-person bitcoin payments, for both the merchant and the customer.
