Bitcoin Interest Booms on Reddit
Data compiled by MarketWatch indicates there has been massive growth in bitcoin sub-topics on the popular Internet site Reddit, with August particularly active in growth.
MarketWatch did an analysis of data gathered from CrowdTangle, which monitors social media responses. It reports that, on average, interactions on the major crypto subreddits are up 930% this year, with subscribers on the largest bitcoin forum up 66 percent this year. Total subscribers on that forum now top 331,000.
In August, the interactions – including comments and upvotes – were up 315 percent form January totals, a period when bitcoin soared above the $4,000 single-coin price and Bitcoin Cash was created in response to the SegWit2x hard fork.
The bitcoin forum was adding users at the rate of 1,300 per day. Other cryptocurrencies also had dramatic gains, including “Ethtrader,” devoted to ethereum’s ether. That gained 880 percent growth in subscribers. Litecon has also seen a dramatic rise in interest.
