New “Center of Excellence” in Argentina

Swiss cybersecurity and IoT company WISeKey International Holding has partnered with Argentina’s National Investment and Trade Promotion Agency to create a Blockchain Center of Excellence in Buenos Aires.

In the past few months, WISeKey has established other Blockchain Centers of Excellences in the US, China, India and Africa. Argentina is the first LATAM country to host this nascent technology.

Under the agreement, the agency will support WISeKey throughout the process to establish the dedicated blockchain center and secure the investment in Argentina.

The blockchain center will conduct research, pilot prototyping, co-creation of use cases and IP creation on blockchain technology and platforms. It will also will recommend a blockchain platform to facilitate enterprises to swiftly adopt and on-board blockchain based solutions and services

“Due to its highly qualified human capital, with outstanding technical skills, Argentina offers strong fundamentals to become a major hub of the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” said Andrés Tahta, executive vice president of the Argentina National Investment and Trade Promotion Agency. “We are very excited to cooperate with WISeKey for this new project, which is expected to have a significant contribution to the creation of quality jobs in the country and is an indication of the great economic and social potential that data centers related projects have in Argentina.”

The Swiss company entered into strategic partnerships with SAP, MasterCard, Microsoft and CenturyLink to support this endeavor. It is also working with blockchain experts, government, and academia in order to address the most relevant developments in blockchain with practical, standards-based solutions.
