Craig Wright, whose claims to be bitcoin inventor Satoshi Nakamoto were rejected by most observers, has sold his nChain Holdings company built around his research.

The deal to a Malta private equity firm, SICAV, claimed to be the biggest to-date involving blockchain technology, according to Fortune magazine. The deal did not mention Wright’s affiliation or provide a value. The fund is managed by Accuro Fund Solutions of Liechtenstein, which is part of Zurich, Switzerland-based Accuro Group.

nChain, formerly known as EITC Holdings, is a holding company for filing hundreds of bitcoin and blockchain-related patents. Reuters reported that the company has filed for more than 80 blockchain and bitcoin patents.

Beyond its filing, it is unclear how many patents have been approved for nChain. A patent is an exclusive right granted to an inventor for a fixed period. However, many patents are narrow and can be circumvented.
