Montessori Schools Now Take Crypto Tuition
br>The Montessori Schools of New York City are now accepting bitcoin, ether and Litecoin for payment of tuition.
The Montessori Schools provide an early childhood education program built upon the classical methods of Maria Montessori. Its SoHo campus serves children ages 18 months-6 years, while its Flatiron school serves children ages 2 years-6 years.
Marco Ciocca, Montessori Schools co-founder and chairman, said they made the decision after several of their “Silicon-Alley” parents asked him whether they could pay the $30,950 tuition with bitcoin. After looking into the matter, the school decided to partner with Coinbase to become the first pre-kindergarten school to accept bitcoin.
“We looked at the pros and cons of accepting it and decided that now is probably a good time, because it’s starting to enter the mainstream,” said Ciocca. “It happens to be that we’re the first pre-kindergarten school to accept it as a form of payment.”
