Vitalik Buterin Not Worried About Nations Creating Own Digital Currency
Vitalik Buterin, the co-creator of ethereum, said Tuesday that sovereign countries lack the ability to create cryptocurrencies, as some have indicated they plan to do.
Buterin, who himself is partnered with Russia in a company working on devising a cryptocurrency via Ethereum Russia, said the central banks talking about such an endeavor lack the understanding to execute such projects.
“If there is [such plans] it will be a server and a bunch of marketing buzzwords to make it look like a blockchain,” Buterin claimed.
Buterin spoke at a conference hosted by Ripple, the company behind the digital currency XRP and is working with various banks on payment transfer systems.
